I don't like this all handshake thing. I think it's unnecessary as long as both players agree on sharing the court together. It doesn't make any sense to me at all. Anyways Kostyuk played great throughout the entire week, well done!

@liudehua69On the one hand, I understand the plight of a population suffering a despicable military aggression; I understand less the implication of involving a little girl who plays tennis and is neither involved in politics nor a soldier in the protest.
I believe there is a huge difference between individuals and the nation to which they belong, and the responsibilities of politicians and the military do not necessarily extend to the rest of the population.
Indeed, I believe that if Ukrainian and Russian athletes joined forces, they would send an even stronger signal than not shaking hands: a signal of peace against the politicians and military who are waging war.

@alexcooper3007Tennis built its reputation on sportsmanship, applauding great shots, shaking hands at the net, and showing respect between rivals. Now it feels like the WTA is allowing politics to overshadow the sport itself. If a player can’t even acknowledge their opponent after a match, they shouldn’t be competing against them in the first place. Good on you Mirra for being the better person !

@nicolabarile5831I think that Mirra congratulated Kostyuk on her victory yet Kostyuk doesn't acknowledge Mirra just shows how childish Marta is. If you're willing to step into court to play the match against a Russian you should treat the opponent with the same respect you would any other. Leave politics at the door or don't play them if you can't. Marta just comes across very cruel and cold to not even empathise with Mirra. It's very unsportsmanlike behaviour
